This was originally a recap on the finalewith spoilers and final impressions posted on my old anime blog. The screenshots were lost somewhere in transition. Ao Haru Ride. Hello and welcome to my Ao Haru Ride review. There won’t be any spoilers contained herein, which doesn’t really matter anyway, considering that this is easily the most predictable series I’ve seen this year. It’s especially predictable if you’ve seen a few romantic-type comedies based in the shoujo genre. Don’t mistake predictable for bad, mind you. It’s just as the series meanders along, it never really surprised me, delivered anything unexpected or made me think or feel anything new. But I enjoyed it. So, what did Ao Haru Ride deliver and what did the cast of characters make me feel? Some of that, but first a very brief synopsis and some production notes. Ao Haru Ride, literally Blue Spring Ride, was billed as a shoujo romantic comedy, but it’s a pretty basic light coming-of-age in high school tale. The series begins with us following high school student Yoshioka Futaba as she makes her way through her first year in high school. We immediately get some insight into the main character, her past and various motivations. Futaba fulfills awkward main character role well. It doesn’t take long for Futaba’s world to be shaken, when she’s reunited with a boy from her past. This lighter version of a long lost love is the catalyst for Futaba — and through her, the story — to progress over course the series. She contends with her feelings for the dreamy Kou, while dealing with real friendship for the first time, and generally being a high school girl. It’s all pretty basic, and generally hinges on how much you like the characters and the writing. Thankfully, the characters and writing aren’t terrible. The show looked and sounded just fine. When researching the show before the season started, I did look over the manga and its website. The character designs in the anime are toned down versions of the slightly exaggerated shoujo-style ones in the manga, but are fairly faithful for the most part. Especially faithful in regards to the males, who are rendered stunningly attractive. Kou and Bro are blessed genetically. Characters designs, as well as all the backgrounds, various locales, and the animation itself are pretty, but fairly mediocre. The series — animated by Production — doesn’t look bad, just not very memorable. It suffices however, and luckily for Ride, it doesn’t need to look stunning although Kou is pretty stunning to tell its story. I would say the same for the audio contained in the series. The opening is lively and colorful, but I usually skip it, as I do all opening and endings. I feel that OPs and EDs are pointless for the most part, unless it comes to spoiling events that haven’t happened. They’re really good at spoiling shit — and selling merchandise. Regardless, I can’t give an honest opinion about those. The score and background music were pretty good however. The shot that made my female readership climb. The voice acting is fine, and for the most part slightly above average. Uchidas Maaya does Futaba’s voice and with her being the main character, gets plenty of opportunities to show a wide range of emotion, and show it well in my opinion. Anything less, and it could have been difficult actually caring what happens her as much as I did. So, why did I care about Futaba and through her, Kou and the rest of her friends? Well, the reason I enjoyed the series overall, is the same reason I enjoy the shoujo genre of fiction — sometimes. To me, shoujo doesn’t necessarily mean “girly” stories, but more “stories with feelings.” Because god fucking forbid, you put some actual feelings into a show like Akame ga Kill! Feelings in shounen-like series tend to be a set of grunts, determined looks, fist pumps and super exaggerated expressions. I like Akame ga Kill!, but as a mature adult, I need feelings sometimes. It’s not that I don’t have any feelings myself and want to see them up close or anything, I just — nevermind. Swoon. So, if you get my drift, Ao Haru Ride is a fine example of what I enjoy about the shoujo genre. It’s a simple story, and one with an affable main character to root for. I won’t get into too many specifics, as it wouldn’t be needed. If you’ve seen coming of age high school shows before, you’re already in Rides personal space and will feel completely comfortable watching this. Instead, here are a few things I liked and a few I didn’t like. As I already said, I enjoyed Futaba quite a bit. She’s the “every man” character done very well, and honestly, she could have easily been a male character. The group that does come together fairly early in the series has a nice chemistry, and there are a few small and reoccurring gags that help with the lighter sides of things. Hand warmer to face, my favorite screenshot of the Summer. I did not like high school in real life and I don’t like watching characters in high school in anime. If an anime doesn’t take place in high school, it’s immediately better in my book. Every New Year’s my resolution is to stop watching anime that takes place in high school, but I always break it. I have a reoccurring gag myself with a friend. When one of us tries to describe an anime we’ve just watched, the other says, “you just described 90% of all anime,” regardless of what they described. You can use that if you wish, it’s fun. So, because it’s in high school, I found it difficult, but not impossibru lol to connect to the teenage feels. My only main gripe with the series, as I mentioned in the opening paragraph, is Ride’s predictability issues. Kou, the returning figure in Futaba’s life, is one of the most obvious characters I’ve ever seen. And the best looking. “It’s so tough being as good looking as I am.” Seriously, isn’t he dreamy? Not just physically mind you. He’s distant, but reachable by way of some treacherous waters, he’s cruel at times, but just challenging enough to make teenage girls wonder why he’s so cruel. Surely, Futaba can tame the distant-staring eyes and murky-watered heart residing just inside those firm teenage pectoral muscles? You get what I’m saying right? Kou is perfection, which I found stupid. Even when he’s an asshole and distant, he’s perfect. Girls, lol. In addition to Kou, all the characters act and do things you’d expect, with very few exceptions. Hmm
I’m going to stop right there and finish this. I apologize for all the nonsense, which I’ve just re-read, but will not edit out. Ok, with its enjoyable, familiar main character — who I really did enjoy — and for the general enjoyment I took from the series, I’ll give Ao Haru Ride a very solid 3 out of 5 on my Kitsune Scaleℱ If you haven’t read my finales before, a three is a very good score. A four is slotted for great shows, with five for the rare series that I think is outstanding. All my opinions of course. On my, “would I recommend this series,” scale, I would say, yes. That’s if you’ve read this review and it sounds good, then watch it. On my, “did I ever think about dropping this scale,” the answer is, no. This was really easy to watch. Well, I wanted a well-rounded Summer 2014 season and knew I wanted a shoujo anime to recap and review. Thankfully this coincided with the release of Ride. Although my second choice was Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun which people seem to like, and its been on my want to watch list. Anyway, thanks all, and if you have any comments or shoujo series to recommend, please let me know! Thanks all and take care.

Still better love story than Twilight L'Ă©pisode 4 Ă©tait vraiment bon , enfin une romance intĂ©ressante , je commençais Ă  perdre espoir moi .

Blue Spring Ride’, or as it is more popularly known in Japan, Ao Haru Ride’, is a Japanese shƍjo manga series written and illustrated by manga artwork specialist, Io Sakisaka. Sakisaka is best known for her contribution in the Japanese anime film, HAL’ and the more recent manga series, Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare’. The manga was first published in the February, 2011 issue of Bessatsu Margaret’, a popular magazine by Shueisha and continued till February, 2015, producing a total of 12 tankƍbon volumes. Various publishing fronts have acquired rights to the manga in various languages and as a result, it has been translated to a number of languages including Chinese, French, German and Italian. However, an English version is presently in development as announced by Viz Media in their Anime Boston 2018’ panel. It is called Au Haru Ride’ and can be expected to be released sometime at the end of 2019. The original Japanese manga managed to sell about million copies as of May 9, 2014. The anime television series is produced by Production and directed by Ai Yoshimura. It is quite well received by fans and also generated a lot of hype on release. The first episode premiered at midnight on July 7, 2014 on Tokyo MX. Praise was targeted towards character design and the soundtrack. The anime is presently licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America. Also, a live action film is directed by Takahiro Miki, a notable filmmaker in Japan. It was released on the December 13, 2014 and stars Tsubasa Honda as Futaba Yoshioka, Izumi Fujimoto as YĆ«ri Makita and famed Japanese actor and model, Ryƍ Yoshizawa as Aya Kominato. Masahiro Higashide plays the role of Kou Mabuchi and Japanese actress Yua Shinkawa portrays ShĆ«ko Murao. The film was highly successful and managed to generate a total of US$16 million which translates to roughly „ billion at the Japanese box office. Blue Spring Ride Season 2 Release Date When Will it Premiere? Blue Spring Ride’ season 1 released on July 8, 2014 and ended its 12-episode run on September 23, 2014. A second season of Blue Spring Ride’ is highly unlikely since there have been no developments of the same over the course of 6 years. However, one might believe that the show will be brought back, given the fact that the anime ended quite abruptly and fans were dissatisfied with the ending, especially because it fails to cover the entire story of the manga. But 6 years have passed and we are yet to hear a single word about development. Our best guess is that Blue Spring Ride’ season 2 release date could fall sometime in 2021 or 2022. We will update this section as soon as we hear more. Blue Spring Ride English Dub Though the original manga has been translated to a number of languages, we are still waiting for an English version and the same is the story with the anime. There have been no official English dubs for the show but the Japanese version with English subtitles can be presently streamed on Crunchyroll. Blue Spring Ride Plot The entire plot of Blue Spring Ride’ revolves around the antics of Futaba Yoshioka, a 17-year-old high school student suffering from an inferiority complex. Despite being a popular girl in school and the object of desire for many guys around her, she fails to connect with the girls around her constantly. She tries to fit in with the crowd by taking part in activities that other normal girls take part in, but to no avail. In a desperate attempt to fit in, she begins to undermine and demean the guys around her, thinking that it will lead to more attention from her female classmates. There is a history of her peers being jealous of all the attention that she gets from the guys and she feels that such rash behavior will change their mindsets. However, even such an endeavor falls flat on Futaba’s face, at which point she gives up the act and proceeds to accept the reality. During this time, two events take place that completely change her life and her perceptions. The first event takes place when Futaba suddenly reunites with her old friend and lover, Kou Tanaka. Kou had shared the same feelings for her and the couple was devastated when Kou had to move away due to problems in his family. His mother decided that it will be better for Kou to study at Nagasaki, at which point he was forced to abandon the relationship completely. Now, after meeting Kou for the first time in years, she is very excited to reconnect with him. For once, she feels that she will be able to experience love again as she did back in high school but upon actually meeting and talking with Kou, her dreams are shattered yet again. She discovers that Kou has become a completely new person with a very different take on life that has altered his personality. He now goes by his mother’s surname Mabuchi’, instead of his ancestral name, Tanaka’ but these are not the only changes. The seemingly friendly and outgoing person whom she fell in love with back in high school has transformed into a cold heartless stoic, one with a complete and utter disregard for other’s feelings or emotions. The second event takes place when Futaba, who’s yet again led astray by her emotions and expectations, turns to her middle school friends for support. This is where we are introduced to the character of Yuri Makita, her classmate back in the day, and also a fellow outcast. Unlike Futaba, Yuri is quite confident of her cute’ outlook and is completely oblivious to the fact that her peers don’t engage with her. She stays in a world of her own, but after meeting Futaba, she begins to hang out with her. The two of them soon start sharing secrets and ultimately connects with each other over the fact that they could not connect with others and were left ostracized by their classmates. Even though Futaba doubts Yuri’s friendship at first later fueled by the fact that Yuri develops a crush on Kou, Futaba still hangs out with her since they have no one else. It is at this moment that Futaba comes to know that Kou has been assigned to their class despite him being supposed to be in a special advanced class. Futaba and Kou begin spending a lot of time together since they are studying in the same class and are also chosen as class representatives. Yuri also starts spending time with them as she holds the position of event representative. They are joined by another outcast Shuko Murao and her admirer Aya Kominato and the five of them proceed to take part in various activities together. Blue Spring Ride Characters Futaba Yoshioka A 17-year-old teenager and the main protagonist of the story, Futaba is suffering from identity crisis and social anxiety. She is led to believe that her popularity among boys is the reason behind her being ostracized by her classmates and she proceeds to demean and look down upon boys who had a crush on her in an attempt to be popular. She is still not able to connect with her classmates, and that is when she meets her old friend Yuri and her long lost lover, Kou. She develops a special bond with Yuri and the two of them eventually become best friends. Kou Mabuchi Kou Mabuchi, or Kou Tanaka as he was previously known back in middle school, is the male protagonist of the story. He used be romantically involved with Futaba in middle school until he was forced to abandon the relationship after relocating to Nagasaki due to problems in his family. After returning, he joins the same school as Futaba and the two resume their friendship, albeit with a rough start. Life in Nagasaki has completely changed him, as Futaba painstakingly finds out and he has become an extremely rude and emotionless person. He has also changed his ancestral name Tanaka’ to his mother’s surname Mabuchi’, leading one to wonder whether the two events are interconnected. He is the object of desire for many of his female classmates, including Yuri who also happens to be Futaba’s friend. YĆ«ri Makita Another social outcast but surprisingly strong and outgoing about her stature, Yuri Makita develops a bond with Futaba over the fact that they are both shunned by their classmates. However, being the strong and confident character that she is, she doesn’t mind her cutesy’ look or the fact that she is not well received by her peers. Completely oblivious to the outer world, she and Futaba begin to live their lives together like two sides of the same page. She develops a crush on Kou and is jealous of the fact that Kou and Futaba are extremely close to each other but lets it pass for the sake of their friendship.
